This monograph is an introduction to CNC Machining and Programming is intended to support the essentially practical activity of preparing and proving computer numerical control (CNC) part programs for turning, milling, and drilling. CNC part programming is an absorbing and time-consuming activity. Thus, a primary objective of this monograph is to ensure that limited time can be used to the best advantage by providing the opportunity to devote as much time as possible to preparing programs and using the associated equipment.

Accordingly, an attempt has been made to include sufficient information to provide with much of the theoretical knowledge needed to support the more practical elements. Although the subject is still in its relative infancy, there has been an almost explosive growth in the application of robots in recent years ranging from relatively simple pick-and-place devices to complex multi-degree-of- freedom machines with computer assisted programming of their functions. Thus, this monograph is being published at a particularly opportune time, and it is likely to become a standard reference book for programmer of CNC machine machines and robots. The monograph is focused on the field of programming CNC machines and the basics of programming KUKA robots. Part of the monograph is a demonstration of the procedure for programming CNC machines and robots with the corresponding control systems. The mentioned programs have been practically tested. The monograph is a good basis for the gradual acquisition of knowledge from the programming of CNC production machines and robots from other manufacturers.
